Page 147: Replacing An M.2 Wireless-Wan Card 6. Place the notched end of the new memory module toward the contact edge side of the memory slot. Then insert the memory module into the slot at an angle of about 20 degrees. Pivot the memory module downward until it snaps into place. Page 148 Some computers might come with an M.2 wireless-WAN.

  1. Description THINKPAD X250 ULTRABOOK; Processor: 5th Gen Intel Core i3-5010U Processor (3M Cache, 2.10 GHz) 5th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-5200U Processor (3M Cache, 2.2GHz), Turbo Boost 2.0 (2.7GHz).
  2. A 4G LTE module (it fits in the available M.2 slot) with SIM card slot is available for $149. Performance Since this is an Ultrabook with ULV 15 watt Intel Broadwell 5th generation CPUs and the usual Intel HD 5500 integrated graphics, it generally is quiet and doesn't get hot.

First of all, unlock and remove the battery.
Remove eight screws securing the bottom cover to the laptop.

Remove the SD card tray from the laptop.

Here’s the SD card tray.

There are seven clips securing the bottom cover to the body.
You can release the clips with a guitar pick.
Once all clips were released, you can remove the bottom cover.

2. Upgrade the M.2 SSD

Under the bottom cover you can get access to the following internal components:
– Hard drive
– RAM module
– M.2 SSD
– Internal battery
– Heat sink and Cooling Fan
– Wireless card
– Speaker
The laptop comes with a 16GB 2242 M.2 SSD. My new M.2 2242 is Transcend MTS400 SATA3 M.2 SSD. By the way, Plextor M6G is also compatible the Lenovo ThinkPad X250.

Remove the screw and take the SSD out of its slot.

Install the Transcend MTS400 SATA3 M.2 SSD into the slot

3. Upgrade the hard drive and 2.5″ SSD

The laptop comes with a Seagate 500GB 7200RPM, and you can upgrade to a larger capacity hard drive, or replace it with a 2.5″ SSD.

In my case, I replace it with a 2.5″ Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB SSD.

4. Upgrade the RAM

The Lenovo ThinkPad X250 comes with an 8GB DDR3L-1600MHz RAM. It has to meet my daily needs, so I did not upgrade the memory, but a user has been upgraded to 16GB, and can be used normally, please see this thread from Lenovo forum.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X250 20CL belongs to the category of netbooks i.e. the laptop is smaller than the average computer. For today you can purchase the Lenovo ThinkPad X250 20CL in USA for $999.00.

The 12 inch screen size of the notebook can be enough for entertainment however some users may experience inconvenience. The ThinkPad X250 20CL has average for laptops image quality and rather low 1280x720 resolution. To really enjoy working on the notebook check Apple MacBook that have better display resolution.

Slot The Lenovo ThinkPad X250 20CL uses a rather fast Dual-Core Intel Core i5 (5th Gen) 5300U processor that runs at 2.3 GHz clock speed. As the processor uses two cores it will be better at performing multiple tasks at once. To get really great performance it is better to select a notebook with Quad-Core processor like HP EliteBook 725 G3.

The 8 GB of RAM is average size which will easily run any graphics programs.

The video card in this laptop is totally enough for browsing the web and watching YouTube videos. But you will be able to play modern games only at the lowest graphics settings.

This notebook has a 256 GB SSD that is a big size for these drives. Solid state drives (SSDs) offer amazing read and write speeds however they are quite expensive.
