Sussex County Cricket Club or also known as Sussex Sharks is one of the oldest of eighteen first-class county clubs within England and Wales’ domestic cricket structure which was founded in 1839.

Sussex Sharks always held first-class status; they have competed in the County-Championship since its official start in 1890. They have also played in different top-level domestic cricket competitions in England.

They have won their first ever County Championship title in 2003, which was the beginning of an era in which they enjoyed their emphatic success, named ‘The Golden Decade’; subsequently, Sussex became such a dominant team, repeating their great feat in the years 2006 and 2007.

Sussex Sharks achieved a ‘double’ when they defeated Lancashire to clinch the C&G Trophy before winning the County Championship against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.

Sussex then won the title for the third time in five years when they defeated Worcestershire in 2007.

They continued their amazing run when they also triumphed in the Pro20 for the years 2008 and 2009 as well as beating Somerset at Edgbaston to win the Twenty20 Cup, giving the south coast county ten trophies in ten years.

Today, Sussex Cricket incorporates with the Sussex Cricket Foundation (SCF) providing different activities with an aim of making cricket accessible to all.
